The Chapel Digest - February 2025

Are you ready to strengthen your marriage? Join us for Two Become One: A Couples Event, with Jason and Robyn Fullerton on Sunday, February 16 at 6:00 pm at Christian Chapel.

Jason is the Lead Pastor of Spirit Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. His wife, Robyn, is a licensed counselor with a wealth of experience. They will guide us through an evening designed to deepen your connection and strengthen your relationship.

Through practical insights and heartfelt wisdom, the Fullertons will equip you with tools to navigate challenges and build a thriving marriage. Whether you're dating, engaged, newlyweds or seasoned pros, this event promises to inspire, encourage, and renew your bond.

We will meet on campus during our normal HomeGroup time. Chapel Kids and Chapel Youth activities will meet in their usual locations. The event will feature two 45-minute sessions with a short intermission in between. We will have snacks and refreshments available at that time. Please feel free to invite your friends and family to attend with you.

Chris Dow

Lead Pastor

“Love…is not merely a feeling. It is a deep unity, maintained by the will and deliberately strengthened by habit; reinforced by the grace which both partners ask, and receive, from God. They can have this love for each other even at those moments when they do not like each other; as you love yourself even when you do not like yourself.”

- C. S. Lewis -

The WithingtonS - Missionaries To Japan

Aaron and Ashley Withington both grew up in Christian homes, but they did not feel called to serve as missionaries until later in their lives. Aaron first sensed God’s call while studying missions in college. At the same time, Ashley experienced a similar prompting during times of prayer and through her interactions with missionaries at their home church in Yukon, Oklahoma. Both responded to this call with shared conviction and began the journey into full-time missions. They, along with their six sons, are now preparing to serve with Assemblies of God World Missions in Iwakuni, Japan.

Aaron and Ashley have a unique assignment in Iwakuni. They will serve at an established church near a Marine Corps Base. With military personnel stationed in the area and many living among the Japanese nationals, the couple sees an exceptional opportunity to equip and empower members to reach their local Japanese community. Aaron and Ashley hope that through this ministry, Japanese individuals will come to know Jesus Christ, and a desire will be sparked among them to plant and multiply indigenous churches, further expanding the Gospel's reach in Japan.

Despite being a country that is open to missionaries, Japan has never fully embraced Christianity. Strongholds of Shintoism and Buddhism dominate the culture. Evangelism is urgent, with less than 1% of the population identifying as Christian and a declining growth rate among Evangelical believers. The country faces significant challenges, including high rates of depression and suicide, as many live without the hope found in Jesus. Aaron and Ashley are passionate about sharing the message of Jesus Christ in Japan, believing that true hope and healing can only be seen through the Gospel's transforming power.

Christian Chapel can partner with the Withington family by covering their ministry in prayer. The couple requested specific prayers for their six sons as they transition into a new location and that God would allow them to feel a deep sense of purpose and understanding for their family. If you would like to partner with the Withington family financially, you can visit christianchapel.com/give and select ‘Withington’.

Dave & Jamie Treseder

Chapel Host, Chapel Kids & RFK

Where are you from?

Tulsa!

How long have you been at Christian Chapel?

Dave: 21 Years

Jamie: My Whole Life!

Why do you serve, and what are your favorite part(s)?

Dave

I think it is important for everyone to find a place to serve since we are a church family. I'm thankful to serve in Guest Services because it matches my outgoing personality and brings me in contact with many others. I enjoy meeting new people and encouraging others.

Jamie

I love serving because kids are important in the Kingdom of God, and I want to help some of our youngest Chapel Kids have a great foundation in Jesus and the local church! I serve at RFK because Jesus came for the "least of these" and I want to show God's love to kids who have been dealt a bad hand in life, through no fault of their own. I am so blessed and want to give back! I also love serving at camp with my brothers and sisters in Christ!

What does Jesus mean to you?

Dave

Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and I am so thankful that He was willing to die for my sins and give me the chance to spend eternity with Him, and so many of my family and friends!

Jamie

Jesus is my rock and He has brought me through many hard times in life. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and I want others to know the peace I have found in Christ!

Ed & Marilyn Guthmann

Chapel Cook, RFK, Chapel Kids & HomeGroup Leaders

Where are you from?

Ed: I lived in a number of states: Illinois, New Mexico, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Ohio.  I followed my older brother to ORU from Waverly.

Marlyn: Holyoke, Colorado

How long have you been at Christian Chapel?

47 Years

Where have you served, why do you serve, and what are your favorite part(s)?

Marlyn: I am one of the founders of Crisis Pregnancy Outreach and served in that ministry for 38 years. Right now I head up the kitchen crew. In addition I served at RFKC for 23 years. I am also part of the group that makes RFKC quilts. My gifting is acts of service and I love to cook! So the kitchen job is perfect for me. I love working with others and doing some mentoring at the same time. My hope is that we can train up some younger cooks to some day be fully engaged in Wed. night meal planning and preparation.

Ed: Early on at Christian Chapel a number of us setup and tore down sound equipment when we met at schools on Sundays (before we had a building of our own). I have served two terms on the board. Marilyn and I have served a number of years on the missions committee and sang in the choir. Barry Bundy and I ( as an outreach from CC) taught a Bible Study at the Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center.  Marilyn and I with Jerry and Brenda Isaacs host a home fellowship group.  I have been going to RFK for the past 25 years. Brandon Douglas and I teach Royal Rangers (4th and 5th grade) on Wednesday.  Marilyn and I have participated with Rubens Cunha on several Brazil crusades.  This is a long list because we have been attending a few years.

What does Jesus mean to you?

We love Jesus! We learn new things about him daily as I grow in my relationship with him. I look forward to the day I see him face to face!
