The Chapel Digest - JUNE 2026

Wisdom for Today

We all face situations where we need wisdom. Thankfully, the Bible is full of practical wisdom that speaks directly into daily life. This summer, we’re working through several passages from Proverbs—an incredible collection of divinely inspired wisdom sayings.

Proverbs has a lot to say about everyday life: making wise choices, pursuing the right path, marriage, parenting, work ethic, friendships, and leaving a legacy. Many of its simple statements can have a profound and positive impact on our lives when we put them into practice.

When I was in college, a professor once told me and my classmates that if we wanted to become wise beyond our years, we needed to make wisdom a daily habit. He encouraged us to read one chapter of Proverbs each day—on June 1st, Proverbs 1; on June 2nd, Proverbs 2; and so on. It’s easy to remember, doesn’t require a huge time investment, and exposes you to incredible wisdom without overcomplicating your life or schedule.

Looking back, that professor’s advice has truly held up. Proverbs still challenge me, encourage me, and equip me. As we work our way through a few passages from Proverbs this summer, I hope you experience the same thing.

Matt & Randi

- Israel -

Matt and Randi, along with their four daughters—Kenley (15), Maren (13), Ashlyn (12), and Brenna (12)—have just completed their first 3.5-year term serving as global workers in Israel. They are currently in a short itineration season, living in Christian Chapel’s MIR House, raising support as they prepare to return to the field in October.

Matt and Randi were involved in various ministries at the church when they attended Christian Chapel, but their hearts began to shift as they regularly heard from other global workers sharing stories from around the world. Those moments slowly stirred a conviction that overseas ministry wasn’t something to simply support, but something they may be called to step into themselves. After much prayer and counsel, they felt compelled to serve in Israel, an unreached nation with less than 1% of the population following Jesus.

They moved from Tulsa to Israel in October 2022, beginning in Haifa, a coastal city known for its cultural diversity and largely secular population. Their daughters entered Hebrew-speaking public school, and the family was immersed immediately into language, culture, and daily life far from home. That first year of adjustment was significant, and it was quickly followed by an even more intense season when war broke out exactly one year after their arrival. While many expected them to return to the United States, Matt and Randi felt a clear conviction to remain. “We knew we were where we were supposed to be,” they said.

Life during the past 2.5 years has included frequent missile alerts, time in bomb shelters, and long stretches of disrupted sleep and routine. Yet even in the tension, they found unexpected openness for meaningful conversations and relationships within their community.

In August 2024, they relocated to Jerusalem and began overseeing a long-standing Christian bookstore. This ministry not only provides resources for local Believers, but also allows space for gospel conversations in the heart of the city.

Looking ahead, their focus is on building a team and laying groundwork for church planting in Jerusalem—primarily through relational, house-based communities. Alongside this, they continue learning Hebrew, recognizing language as a key part of reaching the people around them with the love and Good News of Jesus, especially those who do not speak English.

They are currently focused on raising support and strengthening partnerships, and they hope to return to Israel this fall. They are asking the church to pray for protection, boldness, and longevity as they step back into ministry in Israel. They carry deep gratitude for this church that helped shape their calling. “We were sitting in the chairs at Christian Chapel when God began to stir our hearts for unreached peoples,” they shared. “And now we’re simply trying to be obedient.”

Continue The Story Progress Update

We are getting so close to completing the new nursery, sanctuary addition and west wing youth addition. The Nursery should be finished by mid-June and will be in use by the end of June. Exterior brick is being laid on the new construction portions of the project, while flooring has been completed throughout the gym lobby. Demo and plumbing work has also started on the 2nd floor adult bathrooms. Thank you for praying, giving, and remaining flexible throughout this process!
