The Chapel Digest - March

Who is ready to see God's kingdom built on earth in 2023?

Building the kingdom in 2023

Hi Christian Chapel Family -

As we head into 2023, we are facing the best kinds of problems that a church can face – growth problems! We are running out of space on Sunday mornings in our worship services. We are running out of rooms large enough for us to gather for all-church events like our Thanksgiving dinner and Kingdom Builders celebration. We need to add more HomeGroups, more Chapel Kids leaders, more Chapel Youth leaders, and more Chapel Hosts.

At our Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, March 8 we will share a few ways that we are addressing these opportunities in the short-term and a few ways that you can pray with us moving forward. Members and attenders are welcome at the Business Meeting. Even if you can’t join us, will you continue to ask God to give our Pastoral Staff and Board of Deacons wisdom and direction as we navigate this season at Christian Chapel?

We want to lovingly disciple and care for every person who is currently part of our community of faith this year. We also want to continue to introduce more people to wholeness in Christ throughout 2023. I believe God has an amazing path laid out for us, and I can’t wait to walk it with you!

Healing – Color Blindness

January 3, 2022 - The Bebouts

Our son, Owen, was born red/green colorblind. He saw the world in an entirely different way than most people. He could only see a slight tinted gray-like color when shown a very bright green or red. He could see other colors like blue, yellow, orange but not in the same way as someone with normal vision does. All colors looked muted to him. It was like looking thru the lens on a welders helmet all the time.

Owen made it thru early elementary school education without anyone knowing. He didn't even know he was colorblind he just thought everyone saw colors the same way he did. After it was discovered that he didn't see things like we did, it started to bother him some that he couldn't see colors correctly. We investigated getting him special glasses that would help him. It was just artificial, only adding a red tint to his vision that would give him sense of what color and brightness were.

After looking at glasses one evening, Owen went bed a little disappointed about his sight, and he asked God if He would let him see more color. And that was it. Owen never told us about the prayer he prayed that night. At 3:00 a.m. on Jan 3, 2023, Owen texted us to say something had happened and he wanted to tell us about it. My wife, Amy told him just to come downstairs to talk to her.

Owen was practically bouncing off the walls when he came downstairs. We got him to settle down for a minute and asked him what happened. Owen had a huge smile on his face and announced, "I can see!" We were sort of confused. Amy asked if he had been having trouble seeing not even thinking about his colorblindness. He replied "No, I can see fine, but now I can see color!” He ran over and gave us a big hug. You could feel the excitement pulsing through him.

We asked him what happened. He said that he had been startled awake by a noise while sleeping, but he didn't know what it was. He said he was trying to look around his room, but everything seemed just black. Then he heard a voice say. "Arise and receive your gift", and as he looked around his room everything got brighter, and he realized something was different. He looked at his phone to see what time it was and that’s when he knew something was seriously different… the Michael Jordan picture on his lock screen was wearing a red jersey not a gray one!

He ran over to his door and flipped on the light. His whole room was full of color. His toolbox nightstand was vibrant red. His Cubs blanket was bright blue.

We spent the next hour in the middle of the night looking at everything colorful thing we could find in the house. He saw that the Christmas tree was green, the different colors of the ornaments. We looked at boxes of food and packaging in the pantry. We showed him fruits and vegetables and everything in the fridge. It was so amazing experiencing his new discovery.

He eventually went back to his room but couldn't sleep so he continued to look full color photos until he finally fell asleep around 6 am. God has shown His goodness to our family so many times, in many ways, but this was different because God answered Owen's prayer. A prayer he prayed on his own. God not only healed Owen but answered one of our prayers – that God would show up to our kids in a very personal way. God is forever faithful!!

Meet A Missionary

BEN WADE - OVERLAND MISSIONS

Ben Wade has been part of Christian Chapel for 33 years. He was called into ministry at 15 years old in the student ministry at Christian Chapel. Ben’s call to ministry included a missionary sharing with a group of teenagers about how the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. Ben was drawn to the message and wondered if this might be part of God’s plan for his life.

God confirmed Ben’s calling with a powerful vision. God’s call brought Ben to a point of decision, and he responded in obedience to the Lord that he was all in to go where ever God wanted him to go, and do whatever God wanted him to do.

After college God opened the door for Ben to serve with Overland Missions in Zambia. Ben’s ministry focuses on remote and unreached areas. Ben repairs and installs hand pumps bringing clean water to communities while delivering the message of Jesus, the Living Water. His team uses this as a platform to build relationships with local leaders which opens the door to share the Gospel in their areas.

.

Over the last several years Ben has implemented a three day training program to equip indigenous Zambian ministers in the skills of hand pump repair. This will create job opportunities and multiplies discipleship opportunities. Last year they were able to fix 130 hand pumps and brought clean water to 60,000 people. 131 people were saved and 17 people were miraculously healed. Praise God!

Ben is working from the US for most of 2023 to raise support to grow and expand water well ministry in Zambia.
