reopening plans for Christian Chapel

We are excited to continue meeting together for worship this Sunday, May 24 at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.!

For most of March, April and May, we moved all Christian Chapel ministries online to do our part to help slow the spread of the Covid19 virus in our community. Thankfully it seems to be working. Recent statistics for Tulsa County consistently show approximately 100 or fewer active cases in our population of nearly 650,000. We are continuing to pray for those affected by the virus and for those providing care. At the same time, we feel comfortable moving forward with in-person worship services.

If you are comfortable returning for worship, we will be ready for you this Sunday. If you are ill, are in an at-risk category, or are simply uncomfortable returning at this time, please continue to worship with us at christianchapel.com. Our Sunday services will be streamed live at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. each Sunday. We are utilizing new streaming equipment to try to maintain the quality of our online services from the past eight weeks.

If you are able to worship with us in-person, please note the following changes for  May 24. These changes are based on guidelines from our federal, state, and local government, the Oklahoma Assemblies of God, medical professionals, and feedback from our Christian Chapel Reopening Survey. We will communicate plans for May 31 and beyond as we approach that date.

Extra Cleaning – our cleaning team will be hard at work sanitizing all door handles, hard surfaces, and high touch areas before, during, and after each service. The sanctuary chairs will also be sprayed with a disinfectant before and after each service.

Sanitation Stations and Masks – Hand sanitizer will be available outside the sanctuary doors and in other high traffic areas. You are welcome to wear a mask, but masks are not required.

Touchless Environment – our Guest Services team will work hard to provide a touchless environment for you. This includes holding doors open, avoiding handshakes and hugs, no food or drinks, no paper handouts, and no passing of offering buckets.

Family Worship – there will be no nursery, Preschool or Chapel Kids on  May 24. Parents watch for an email from Pastor Amy this week with a few ways to keep your kids engaged in service. If you’re not on the Chapel Kids mailing list, you can contact amy@christianchapel.com to be added. Nursery and Kids Ministry will resume on May 31!

Adjusted Seating – we have removed every other row from our sanctuary and spread the remaining chairs out to create more space between rows. If you are sitting on a long row, please leave three chairs between families.

Shortened Services – Sunday morning worship experience will be approximately one hour long to allow time for  extra cleaning in between services.

Closed Lobby – If you would like to visit with others, please do so outside of the building either before or after service. We know social connection is one of the great strengths of Christian Chapel and can’t wait to get back to normal. This is a temporary limitation to assist with cleaning and disinfecting. The building will not open until 15 minutes before each service.

If you are able to make it this Sunday, I can’t wait to see you! If you’re unable to join us in person, I hope you will make the effort to continue worshipping with us online.
